Abstract

Research has shown that AC is recognized as a non-toxic herbal ingredient with the ability to reduce inflammation. It is a naturally occurring compound with a catechol structure that is connected to methoxy. It stops NADPH-oxidase from doing its job. Scientists discovered that activated neutrophil NADPH oxidase had several subunits. 1 The membrane contains gp91phox (Nox2) and p22phox, whereas the cytoplasm has p47phox, p67phox, and p40phox. 1 Research also shows that this complex produces a superoxide anion, which kills bacteria. Its involvement in host defense is vital. So this review was done to assess AC. Our research indicates that AC exhibits its anti-inflammatory effects via a ROS-dependent mechanism in many situations, including atherosclerosis, pulmonary, renal, and neuroinflammatory disorders, and cancer.
